The Augustinian Recollect Youth (RAY) present their new identity manual and a new version of their international anthem on the Feast Day of Saints Alypius and Possidius. Furthermore, they announce the official launch of jarinternacional.org for the upcoming May 22, the solemnity of Saint Rita of Cascia, as part of the Augustinian Recollect Missionary Year (AMAR).

The Augustinian Recollect Family celebrates the Feast Day of Saints Alypius and Possidius with new projects to strengthen youth evangelization in the digital continent

Every May 16, the Augustinian Recollect Family celebrates the memory of Saints Alypius and Possidius, two of the most important figures of Saint Augustine’s spiritual heritage. Their story cannot be understood apart from that of the Bishop of Hippo. More than companions on the journey, they were friends, community brothers, and witnesses to the same passion for the truth, the Church, and the Gospel.

We do not only celebrate two African bishops from the 5th century. We celebrate a concrete way of living the faith: the friendship that sustains, accompanies, and evangelizes. It is said that great saints usually walk in pairs: Clare and Francis of Assisi, Don Bosco and Mary Mazzarello. But in the case of Saint Augustine, it could not be any other way than living holiness in community. A community formed by Augustine, Alypius, and Possidius.

For this reason, this day holds special significance for the Augustinian Recollect Youth (RAY), who find in Augustinian friendship a permanent inspiration for their evangelizing mission among young people.

The RAY present their new international identity manual

Within the framework of this celebration, the RAY officially present their new Identity Manual, a tool that seeks to strengthen the image, language, and common identity of Augustinian Recollect youth ministry throughout the world.

The document is not merely a graphic or communicative manual. It is also an expression of unity, belonging, and shared mission. It seeks to help the RAY better communicate their spirituality, their charism, and their evangelizing proposal in the various countries where they are present.

The new visual identity also aims to respond to the challenges of the digital continent, where a large part of young people’s lives currently takes place. Social networks, digital platforms, and new communication languages have become real spaces for encounter, dialogue, and spiritual searching.

Therefore, the RAY want to continue building a digital presence that goes far beyond the simple publication of content. The goal is to create spaces for friendship, accompaniment, and evangelization where young people can share their faith, meet, dialogue, and discover Christ even in the midst of digital culture.

jarinternacional.org will be launched on May 22, the solemnity of Saint Rita

Along with the new identity manual, the RAY also announce the upcoming official launch of jarinternacional.org, the new international digital platform for Augustinian Recollect youth ministry.

The website will be presented on Friday, May 22 at 12:00 PM, coinciding with the solemnity of Saint Rita of Cascia, one of the great saints of Augustinian spirituality and a universal sign of hope, reconciliation, and fidelity.

The launch of this new platform is part of the Augustinian Recollect Missionary Year, AMAR, which urges the entire Augustinian Recollect Family to renew its evangelizing and missionary commitment.

A new anthem to sing of friendship and mission

On this day dedicated to Saints Alypius and Possidius, the RAY also present a new version of their international anthem within the Recoletos Music project.

The musical proposal seeks to reflect the cultural richness and diversity of the Augustinian Recollect Family. The new anthem incorporates sounds and rhythms from different parts of the world: from flamenco influences born in Granada to Latin rhythms that invite us to sing and celebrate the same faith together.

Because to evangelize is also to sing together. It is to share beauty. It is to discover that faith can be expressed in multiple languages and that all of them can lead to an encounter with Christ. It is said that Saint Augustine stated that “he who sings prays twice.” We will not go into whether he actually said it or not, but we do want to share the desire to sing together, with our own rhythms, cultures, and sensibilities, until we create a single rhythm: the rhythm of love.

Augustinian friendship also evangelizes on the internet

The experience of friendship lived by Alypius and Possidius alongside Saint Augustine continues to inspire the mission of the RAY today. Augustine spoke of Alypius with profound admiration. Together they lived the search for truth, received baptism in Milan, and shared their service to the Church as bishops. Possidius, moreover, accompanied Augustine until his final days and became the first biographer of the Saint of Hippo.

The Church remembers these saints together because they represent a faith lived in community and sustained by friendship. That same friendship is what the RAY want to continue building today among young people, also in the digital continent.

From the Communications Office of the Order of Augustinian Recollects, we want to continue assuming that commitment with creativity, responsibility, and hope. To evangelize and communicate Christ where people live, dialogue, seek meaning, and build community: in the streets, in the parishes, in the missions, and also on the internet. That is our work. That is also our commitment.
