The Augustinian Education Conference will celebrate its XXXII edition on February 21 and 22, 2026, once again establishing itself as a reference space for the training, meeting, and reflection of educators from the Augustinian family in Spain. Under the motto “AI with a teaching heart”, the Conference proposes a deep and current look at the impact of artificial intelligence in the educational field, from a humanistic, ethical, and pastoral perspective, faithful to the educational charism of Saint Augustine.
A meeting with more than thirty years of history
The Augustinian Education Conference was born in 1994, driven by the Education Commission of the Spanish Augustinian Federation (FAE), with the aim of transmitting and updating Augustinian values in the educational field. Since then, hundreds of teachers from Augustinian schools throughout Spain have met each year to learn, share experiences, and get excited together in their educational vocation.
Throughout its more than three decades of history, the Conference has addressed key issues for the Augustinian school, such as educational identity, accompaniment, interiority, coexistence, leadership, social justice, emotional education, and the mission of the teacher as educator and witness. This journey reflects a constant effort to engage with the challenges of each era, from fidelity to the thought and spirituality of Saint Augustine.

AI with a teaching heart: thinking about education from Augustinian humanism
The 2026 edition invites educators to discern the place of artificial intelligence in the school, asking essential questions: How to integrate new technologies without losing the centrality of the person? What role does the educational relationship and accompaniment play in an increasingly digital context? How to combine innovation and pastoral mission?
The Conference thus proposes a dialogue between technology, education, and Christian humanism, emphasizing an AI at the service of the person and the common good, consistent with the Augustinian pedagogical tradition.

A program to think and discern
The day on Saturday, February 21 will begin with the welcome and initial prayer, followed by the official opening of the Conference. Then, two main presentations will take place:
“Educating in times of algorithms. Humanism and digital transformation”, by D. Tirso Maldonado, which will address the educational challenges of digital transformation from a humanistic perspective.
“Generative artificial intelligence in the educational field”, given by D. César Poyatos, focused on the possibilities and challenges of generative AI applied to education.
The day will conclude with a concert by the Choir of the Royal Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, which will bring a cultural and spiritual dimension to the meeting.
On Sunday, February 22, after the celebration of the Eucharist, the third presentation will take place:
“Artificial intelligence and pastoral heart: a possible dialogue”, by D.ª Charo Fernández Aguirre, focused on the relationship between technological innovation and the pastoral mission of the school.
The Conference will close with the closing ceremony at noon on Sunday.
The Spanish Augustinian Federation and the shared educational mission

The Spanish Augustinian Federation (FAE) brings together the different Orders and Institutes of Religious Life inspired by the spirituality of Saint Augustine present in Spain. Through its commissions—education, pastoral, economy, and social—it promotes common initiatives at the service of the evangelizing mission.
The Education Commission, one of the most active since the beginning of the Federation, is responsible for organizing the Augustinian Education Conference and promoting other training and participation initiatives, such as those promoted together with the Augustinian Federation of Associations of Parents of Students (FAGAPA).
